A chemical peel is a skin rejuvenating treatment that utilizes specially-formulated chemical solutions to improve your skin quality. During the procedure, a chemical solution is applied to your skin. It removes the top layer of your skin and causes the layers beneath it to regenerate themselves. This process leaves your skin looking younger and glowing brighter. What’s more, the treatment can be customized to your specific needs, with superficial, medium-depth, and deep peels available.
At D'Luxe we offer numerous chemical peel treatments that can leave your skin looking positively radiant.
Chemical peels are most commonly used to treat skin on the face, neck and hands.
They can improve various skin conditions, including:

Preparation
In preparation for your chemical peel, we will provide you with personalized instructions catered to your condition and treatment plan. It is important that you follow these instructions so that your treatment goes smoothly.
For a week before your treatment, you should avoid other skin treatments that might make your skin more sensitive. You should also avoid excessive sunlight and tanning beds for similar reasons.
Chemical Peel Procedure
On the day of your procedure we will thoroughly wash your skin to remove excess oils. The chemical solution will then be applied to your skin. The solution may produce a warm sensation on your skin for a few minutes. This sensation will be followed by a slight stinging sensation.
Recovery
Chemical peels are typically divided into three categories- superficial, medium, and deep. These categories are determined by the strength of the formulas used and the level of skin resurfacing that they cause. The deeper the chemical peel, the longer and more intensive your recovery will be. (2)
If your chemical peel was superficial, it will feel like a sunburn. You’ll see some redness along with some scaling for up to seven days. The treatment can be repeated as little as two weeks afterward.
If your chemical peel was of medium depth, expect swelling and stinging along with redness and scaling. You may develop blisters. Your skin will eventually crust and peel off. Your skin will heal fully in about two weeks. You can receive another medium depth chemical peel in as little as six months after your initial treatment.
If your chemical peel was deep, your skin will be highly sensitive and will require downtime for healing. We may wrap your treatment area. Your skin will heal in two weeks, though sometimes redness and swelling last longer than that.
For all chemical peels, you should avoid tanning beds and excessive sunlight while your skin heals. You should also carefully apply lotion daily to prevent your skin from scarring as it crusts and peels.
Results
Once your skin has healed itself completely, there will be a soft layer of youthful, regenerated skin. It will take from one to fourteen days for your new layer of skin to completely reveal itself, depending on the depth of your treatment. Your skin will have a smoother texture, and your sun spots and freckles will be less prominent or gone entirely. Your wrinkles and fine lines will be less noticeable, as well.
The effects that aging and lifestyle have on our skin are inevitable. While chemical peels can offer short-term solutions for skin improvement, the results are not permanent.
